The Cabinet has welcomed the defense deal signed with South Africa to produce military projectiles, saying it would bolster the country’s armed forces and ensure further localization of industries aimed at creating jobs for citizens.

The Cabinet meeting, chaired by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh on Monday, said the munitions factory, which would be constructed with the help of a South African arms manufacturer, would be a key contributor to Saudi requirements for military projectiles and assist in local job creation and technology transfers, according to SPA.

Meanwhile, the Cabinet welcomed the convening of the first meeting in Riyadh of the Islamic Military Alliance army chiefs of staff. The ministers stated that the Riyadh Declaration issued by the meeting affirmed the importance of collective action to counter terrorism and extremism with education, dialogue and other measures.

The Cabinet further renewed the Kingdom’s call for the United Nations Security Council to set up an international system that would protect the Palestinian state including Al-Quds. They also condemned the Israeli authorities for continuing to construct settlements on occupied Arab territory, and regretted the resignation of the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in the occupied Palestinian territories because of Israeli intransigence.

The Cabinet denounced the terrorist bombings in Pakistan and Brussels, which resulted in several deaths and casualties. In this context, it urged the international community to intensify efforts to fighting terrorism.
